My tip is to help you start the design idea process...
I think the best way to get inspired when given a new design brief...(especially if your stuck, or not too sure about what you are being asked.....) is to spend some time looking through books or on the web researching ideas and especially images of all the possibilities... this should help to give you direction and hopefully come up with more sophisiticated ideas.
